Il Pasticciere Trotzkista

The editorial project Il Pasticciere Trotzkista is artist Alfred Agostinelli’s ambitious attempt to turn his vast archive of images dedicated to the representation of cakes in cinema into a printed narrative. Founded in 2020, Il Pasticciere Trotzkista began with the construction of an iconographic atlas conceived as a refuge from the aspirational ugliness of contemporary cake design, but also a space to reflect on the subtextual meanings of these queer objects, which in films are often endowed with a strange, dark power.
