Ad Minoliti - Brussels Ass Book Fair

Ad Minoliti is a painter in the broadest sense of the word. Through expanded painting, print, animation, installations, social relationships and various other media, they build a nonbinary geometry that envisions an alternative universe or speculative science fiction. Minoliti uses geometrical abstraction to explore the idea of a non-human heterotopia, where gender theories are applied to visual language as a way to experiment with the design of imagery and space.

Their practice addresses different ideas around queer ecologies, animalism, tenderness, art education, childhood, architecture, transfeminism, design and decoration. Ad Minoliti is the founder of Sala Peluche, an art gallery in Buenos Aires in Argentina, and an exhibitor at the Brussels Ass Book Fair.

Minoliti holds a BFA from the National Academy of Fine Arts P. Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires. They have been part of the Artistic Investigation Center of Argentina since 2009, the same year they co-founded PintorAs, a feminist collective of Argentinian painters. Their work is part of many collections, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and has been exhibited in galleries, institutions and museums around the world. They have participated in the Bienal del Mercosur (Brazil), the Aichi Triennale (Japan), FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art (U.S.), the Venice Biennale (Italy) and the Gwangju Biennale (Korea), among many others.

As special guest artist, Ad Minoliti created visual identity for the second edition of the Brussels Ass Book Fair, incorporating a cheeky wink to the title of the event. The design is used in all communications at K1 and throughout Brussels, as well as online. Their commission also includes a signature scenography.

A limited-edition t-shirt and socks with Ad Minoliti’s design will be available for purchase at the Brussels Ass Book Fair.

The scenography by Ad Minoliti for the Brussels Ass Book Fair was made possible by the National Lottery.
